Venture Golf - The Year That Was

2019, the year the team and I set out to change social golf & create a platform for social golfers and members alike to blend and experience golf outside the parameters of traditonal club and social golf. Right here in our own backyard the beautiful #Queensland. In a year, we‘ve built relationships and learned the do’s and dont‘s of this vast and complex industry, armed with a new state of the art software (Golf Genius) and state of mind, the #VentureGolf team are ready to take on 2020.

Now enough about us! Let’s talk about the people that make our grind all worth it.

The Venture Golfer‘s!

Yes our members!

The guys and girls that turn up brimming with confidence prior to tee off, and finish up the round feeling like most have done before us, wondering where it all went wrong!! Washing it down with a beer, with a bunch of like minded folk during our post match prize giving, always turns that frown upside down. Our golfers have soared to great heights this year and we have been blessed to witness or be apart of it in some way shape or form.

The Sutton brothers, Chris & Josh, when you think left hand low we normally affiliate that with putting right? Guess again!!! These champions grip every club this way and boy can they pound one down the middle.

Mike Graham, one of our original members, earning his Australian #PGA legends tour card via Q-school at #Sandhurst after only his first qualifying comp, and still a proud member of the Venture Golf Club.

Darren Condon-Green; now when you think golden year think of this man and the season he has had in 2019! I will be dot pointing his achievements to put a stamp on how prolific his year was.

- C Grade Club champion for 2019

- C Grade Match-play Champion 2019

- C Grade Monthly Medal winner (November)

- C Grade Monthly Medal Winner (October)

- Links Hope Island 80 meter chip off winner

- Unlucky to miss out on a 3rd consecutive monthly medal this time in B Grade!!! Finishing second.

We finish off with our Venture Golf overall champion clinching the Jacket by a mere 1.5 points over Chris Sutton!!! Nelson Doherty, our reigning VG champion, started off like many social golfers- a round here, a round there, like most. Those couple of glory shots kept reeling him back in for another round. Nelson is a hot headed golfer simply stemming from the desire to win. But his temperament not only hindered his scoring, it crippled his ability to completely enjoy the game. Early stages we grouped Nelson with our older more level headed members which allowed him to learn the game, and more importantly to play one shot at a time. With this and the group environment allowed him to thrive and hit shots and pull rounds together that we knew he could!! Armed with this mentality and his need to win, Nelson took out the championship in our final event at Kooralbyn Valley Golf Course where we had 48 golfers attend from all walks of life.

We would like to thank all those who were apart of our first year at Venture Golf and we can't wait to share our upcoming plans for the future.

Our 2020 season kicks of on February 9, at Sanctuary Cove for our first Venture Golf tour event, and our first inter-club event happening at Brisbane River Golf Club on March 1st. If you haven't already, jump on and register to our Master Roster on the link below.

We look forward to another year of growth with you all!
